Agymsaly Dyuzelkhanov

  • Agymsaly Dyuzelkhanov is a distinguished artist excelling in both graphic arts and painting. Born on 19th August 1951 in Kazalinsk, Kyzylorda region, Kazakhstan, Dyuzelkhanov embarked on his artistic path after serving in the Soviet Army. In 1976, he graduated from the Almaty Art School before furthering his studies at the V.I. Surikov Moscow State Art Institute, specialising in graphic arts.

    Dyuzelkhanov garnered particular acclaim for his graphic art contributions, including book illustrations, easel graphics, and poster design. Throughout his career, he has designed and illustrated over 300 books and created 50 posters, frequently drawing inspiration from folklore and historical themes. His achievements in this field have been recognised at national and international exhibitions and competitions. Notably, he participated in the UN-organised 'Global ART 2000' in the USA, where he was lauded as one of the top artists amongst over 100 participating countries.

    Furthermore, Dyuzelkhanov has established himself as a master of painted canvases. His artworks, including paintings like 'Ablai Khan', 'Abulkhair Khan', 'Tomiris', 'Golden Warrior (King of the Scythians)', 'Turkistan', 'Ordabasy', and others, grace the presidential residences of the Republic of Kazakhstan in both Almaty and Astana. Additionally, his works are featured in museums within Kazakhstan and internationally. Notably, his paintings 'Oguz Khan' and 'Kerogly' are displayed in the art collection at the President's residence in Turkmenistan.

    In 1992, Dyuzelkhanov played a pivotal role in designing the national currency of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Tenge, further solidifying his significance in the country's art scene.

    His artistic accomplishments were recognised by a Presidential Decree of the Republic of Kazakhstan in 1996 when he was honoured with the title 'Қазақстанның еңбек сіңірген қайраткері' (Honoured Artist of the Republic of Kazakhstan). Additionally, in 2002, he was awarded the State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan for a series of historical paintings about Kazakhstan.
