The painting "The Tale of Korkyt" is a captivating artwork created using watercolour. In this piece, the artist brings to life the image of Korkyt-ata, the creator of the kobyz (a traditional Kazakh musical instrument) and the guardian of baksy (shamans). As the legend goes, Korkyt's birth is entwined with mystical natural phenomena—storms, lightning, and darkness. His arrival into the world ushered in a sudden serenity in nature, with the sun reclaiming its radiant dominance. Struck by the sheer power of these natural events, people attributed Korkyt's birth to this awe-inspiring spectacle and adorned him with a name imbued with the essence of ‘fear’. The composition features an ornamental motif reminiscent of Scythian animal symbolism, gracefully enveloping the central image. At its heart, the painting portrays Korkyt-Ata, encircled by characters from his narratives and elements of the Kazakh landscape. This artwork not only captivates the eye but also encapsulates the opulence of Kazakhstan's cultural heritage and history while imparting the profound significance of Korkyt-ata in Kazakh culture.
