Temirkhan Ordabekov

  • Temirkhan Ordabekov, born on 6 March 1950, is a distinguished figure in Kazakhstan art. He is a professor at the Graphics and Design Department of the Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University and a member of the Artists' Union of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

    In 1971, Ordabekov completed his studies at the Fine Arts Faculty of the Abai Kazakh Pedagogical Institute. In 1973, he began teaching at the Shymkent Pedagogical Institute's Fine Arts Faculty and has remained active in education since. By 1984, he had become a member of both the USSR's and the Republic of Kazakhstan's Artists' Unions. In 1998, he was appointed the deputy chairman of the Artists' Union of the Republic of Kazakhstan. He took a teaching position in the Graphic Department at Abai University in 1992 and was promoted to senior lecturer by 1993. By 1995, he was named Associate Professor of the Graphics and Design Department. Cumulatively, he has an impressive 32 years of pedagogical experience.

    Ordabekov primarily focuses on graphic design, particularly linocut printmaking. His works, renowned for their vibrant imagery and outstanding craftsmanship, frequently take inspiration from medieval Kazakhstan's history and figures – a pivotal era for the shaping of the nation's culture and identity. Ordabekov has participated in a variety of exhibitions internationally, as well as at union and national levels. Furthermore, more than 30 of his pieces are housed in esteemed institutions such as the A. Kasteyev State Museum of Arts, various regional museums, and the Directorate of Art Exhibitions.

    Ordabekov's artworks are renowned for their professionalism, dedication to classic realistic art styles, profound spirituality, and keen exploration of socio-philosophical themes.
