Galiya Jewellery - The Family Ring

Made to measure, depending on finger size, The Family Ring is made in silver or 18-karat white gold. The inspiration for this piece was the traditional Kazakh ‘Otau-Zhuzik’ ring, which is given by a mother-in-law to the newly married bride. The design is based on the shape of a yurt and represents the new couple’s future life and how they will build their new home and family.

Rings occupy a special place in Central Asian women’s jewellery. Magical properties have been attributed to them since ancient times, and many still believe that rings have powers to protect against evil spirits. It is still typical to see two, three or more rings on a hand of a Kazakh woman.
