Batukhan Baymen

  • Batukhan Baymen is a renowned Kazakh graphic artist whose captivating artistic journey began in the late 1970s. He quickly unveiled his distinct vision and unconventional expression in the visual arts. While his signature style remained true to its roots, it continuously evolved, integrating new techniques.

    In 2011, he was honoured with the "Mәdениетқайраткері" award by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Kazakhstan for his contribution to the arts.

    In 1994, with the support of UNESCO, a trilingual album book titled "ABAI.Life.Time.Art" was published, showcasing a collection of Baymen's artworks. This publication was a significant acknowledgement of his artistic prowess and global recognition.

    In 2013, with the involvement of the Executive Committee of the International Confederation of Artists' Unions, an album titled "Қазақстан бейнелеу өнері" (Art of Kazakhstan) was published in Moscow. Additionally, the "Еlнұr" media publishing house launched a five-volume album, ‘Қазақ өнері" (Kazakh Art), dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Union of Artists of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which included a series of Baymen's artworks.

    In 2016, Baymen was awarded the Gold Medal named after A. Kasteyev ‘For Best Artwork’ by the Union of Artists of Kazakhstan and became the inaugural recipient of the diploma from the International Confederation of Artists' Unions of the CIS countries in Kazakhstan.

    Baymen stands out as one of Kazakhstan's prominent contemporary graphic artists, with his career dedicated to advancing Kazakh graphic design. He embraces contemporary visual art trends in his artwork, drawing inspiration from the rich heritage of his ancestors' nomadic culture. His art is characterised by profound meaning, a distinct steppe flair, and majestic imagery.
