Alibai Bapanov

  • Alibay Bapanov, born on 9th March 1953 in the Kyzylorda region, is an artist whose contribution to Kazakh art is invaluable. His education at the Almaty Art School and the Moscow State Art Institute named after V.I. Surikov, along with his experience working in the monumental painting studio under the guidance of artist Y. Korolev, has shaped his unique artistic style.

    From the early 1980s, Bapanov actively engaged in teaching at the Almaty Art School and worked at the "Өner" visual arts complex, significantly influencing the evolution of contemporary art in Kazakhstan. He also established a creative workshop at the Kazakh National Academy of Arts named after T. Zhurgenov, where he led the monumental decorative arts programme.
